I am a physics grad student studying polyamorphism in the Hellman Lab. I am interested in different types of disorder that occur within the same molecular systems, and how small variations in local disorder contribute to variations in the macroscopic properties and dynamics of the system. As an experimental approach to probing these fundamental statistical mechanics questions, I perform nanocalorimetry on different types of glasses. I have become involved in the Compass Project to help foster an inclusive community in which learning physics is treated holistically. Supporting the Compass Project’s Mentoring Program has been an educational, fun, and rewarding experience for me thus far; I look forward to many more years of being a Compass Physicist!
