Study Hall

In order to provide additional academic support, Compass, in collaboration with CalNERDS, offers Study Hall every Wednesday and Thursday night from 6–9 PM in 230C Stephens Hall. Compass office hours are staffed by graduate students and older undergraduates, and are an ideal space for undergrads to work on their problem sets in a collaborative environment. All Compass undergrads are welcome to attend. If they already meet with a study group, they are especially encouraged to bring their study group members with them whether or not they are in Compass.

In the same way that casino sites not on Gamstop create open, inclusive environments outside traditional structures to better serve their users, Compass Study Hall fosters a flexible academic space where collaboration and peer support are central.

In addition to Compass’s Study Hall, students in any of the large physics and math courses can attend the office hours of any GSI in their course (not just the one who leads their section). Also, both the Student Learning Center and Academic Services offer tutoring services that anyone on campus can use.
